As of this writing, there are less than 20 Compassionate Use Dispensaries still open in San Diego. Over 90% of the medical marijuana dispensaries have already closed, and the remaining may be closed by the end of the month. So, on 2/15, we are holding a vigil for the death of Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act, which legalized marijuana medicine, approved by San Diego voters over 15 years ago.

Our government has paralyzed the patient community with their attacks on safe access. Medical marijuana patients are confused, scared and desperate as their safe, regulated, medicine sources are eliminated. For many, there are no better cures for their ailments. The death of safe access will force many patients to accept less effective and more expensive pharmaceutical treatments or buy marijuana medicine of unknown quality and origin from the black market.

Our heads of law enforcement are directly empowering the cartels with their actions. And as the cartels win back the marijuana market in San Diego, it is the patients and the community at large who will loose.

It is time to remind our government officials that we, the residents of San Diego, support regulated, safe access to marijuana medicine.

We will see you there!
